Tenerife Climate
The prevailing winds around the Canary Islands have been known for centuries as the “trade winds” because the early commercial sailing vessels were dependent upon them. The gentle climate of Tenerife is stabilized by those trade winds, the weather is always fair.
Often referred to as the “Island of Eternal Spring” because the near perfect climate; a sub tropical paradise with one of the best temperate climates in the world. The Tenerife climate is mild temperate and moderate at all times of the year.
The seasonal climate variations in the south are minimal with daytime temperatures of 17-18 degrees C in winter and 24-26 degrees in summer. The United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) conducted a survey of global weather and concluded that the Canary Islands offer one of the best climates in the world.
The climate in the north is usually a few degrees cooler and precipitation is frequently, especially at higher altitudes. It is not uncommon for Mount Teide to be capped with snow during the winter months whilst tourists are sunbathing on the beaches of the south coast.
No doubt the perfect climate helped Tenerife to become one of the most popular all year round tourist destinations.
